St. Andrew's Scout Group comprises of 3 sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
We have one Beaver Colony, two Cub packs and two Scout troops.
We are an active group - each section meets one evening a week during school term time with a number of weekend activities throughout the year, either for a few hours or for the whole weekend.

Beaver Scouts are young people aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony. Our Beavers get out and about in the local area, have occasional sleepovers in our hall, take part in District events, and also join in with our Group Camp
At age 8, boys and girls move on to cubs. There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform. Our Cubs also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. They have several camps every year giving them the chance to sleep in a tent and do lots of outdoor activities.
The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10 1/2 and 14 years, and these boys and girls are the oldest in our Scout Group. Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
Our aim:
At St Andrews we are very proud of our 'family' ethos. We are a strong team of leaders, and are supported by a good committee. We welcome any extra support from parents - be it with fund-raising, tent-pitching or simply making up the numbers for ratios.
We aim to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
We like to think we make a difference to the Young people in our care. Comments, emails and cards from parents tell us we do.
